I’ve officially finished my year and a half of teaching English in South Korea, and while absolutely enjoying my time off in various islands in Thailand, I came up with the idea to start a blog about one of my all time favorite things, food!
Thailand has some of the most delicious and flavorful local cuisine, but today I’m here to tell you about a little gem we found on Ko Phi Phi Don, a European restaurant called Unni’s.
Unni’s is right in the middle of the bustling village on Ko Phi Phi, and with one quick glance at the menu, we were sold.
Unni’s is owned and run by a combination of English expats and local Thais, and their menu boasts a variety of beautifully created tapas, fresh flavorful salads, hearty pastas and pasta salads, a variety of Mexican food, and so much more, including one of my favorite beverages, wine!
Please don’t judge that I may or may not have gone to Unni’s three times in this past week, but that’s just how amazing it is!
All of the appetizers we tried over our visits were amazing! We gladly sampled nachos, tzatziki and focaccia, garlic bread, bruschetta, and quesadillas, but my favorite of the menu was the vegetarian salad.
Please remember that I’m coming from Korea and have had a serious lack of staple western ingredients for the past 18 months.
This perfectly mixed salad contained tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, feta, and sundried tomatoes over a bed of lettuce, all beautifully tossed in the perfect amount of fresh pesto dressing. And, to make it even better, the salad was paired with a piece of homemade focaccia!
So, whenever you make it to Ko Phi Phi Don in the south of Thailand, I highly recommend that you stay at Good View Beach Front in Loh Dalum Bay, and that you eat the majority of your dinners at the wonderfully delicious Unni’s.
